Mission

The mission of Al-beruni library is to play a vital role to support college’s academic and research mission by providing state of the art library and information services. We utilize innovative approaches in working with college students, faculty members, and researchers to help them in utilizing of current technologies, informative literacy skills. In future it will contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning and research.

 

 

About the Library

In any educational or research institution, the Library plays a pivotal role in the dissemination of knowledge, teaching, research and extension services. Besides Engineering Subjects considerable reading material on Humanities, Social science, Islamic studies is available. At present library has a seating capacity of more than 75 readers in Library hall. Library has 2000 collection on different topics.

 

 

Rules & Regulations

  • The Library shall remain open according to timings notified from time to time.
  •  Silence should be observed in the library.
  • Mobiles/iPods/ Laptops should be kept on silent mode.
  • Sleeping, Listening/ watching drama and music etc while staying at library is prohibited.
  •  Leave your personal belongings such as handbags, briefcases, books etc outside the library entrance.
  • Seats in the library cannot be reserved and cannot be moved.
  •  Eating, drinking and smoking etc is not permitted in library premises.
  •  Note: books will be issued on working days only and will be reissued next day. Note: visiting faculty members will draw book from library with the approval of concerned HOD (one book/per subject for 15 days).
  •  A valid library card is must for borrowing the Book(s) and other material.
  •  If book(s) returned after due date, a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged.
  •  If the book return date is on weekend/off day then return it on the next day.
  •  All books must be returned to library before summer vacations.

 

  •  Reference material, CD-ROMs,(original) periodicals, and newspapers will not be issued. They can only be consulted within the library premises.
  • Book(s) will be reissued if it is not required by any other member on the next day but not reissued on the same day. Book(s) will have to be presented at the time of reissue.
  • Cadet/Library member will submit any book(s) or other material, when requested by the library staff.
  •  Do not write, underline or mark any book(s). Library book(s) are carefully examined on return and the borrower will be held responsible for the damage.
  •  Any cadet/library member caught mutilating or stealing library materials will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee and membership will be suspended till decision. If a cadet/library member continues this act, his membership will be permanently canceled.
  •  In case of loss or damage, the cadet/library Member will be charged the double price of book(s) or other material.
  •  All library fines are only paid to the accounts department. Library account will be blocked if the fine is not paid.
  •  Faculty members will also follow the general rules and can borrow the library books according to their category.
  •  All visiting faculty should get proper library clearance at the end of each month otherwise their final payment should be stopped till clearance.
  •  The Library shall maintain newspapers and periodical of the preceding calendar year and the old ones may be disposed off by the library staff in a suitable manner with the approval of the principal.
  • Head of the Departments are required to send the list of the text/ recommended books required for each course being offered, at least 6 weeks prior to the commencement of the classes.
  •  Anyone who leaves the institute without returning the book(s) borrowed from the library, the price of the books(s) will be adjusted against his dues with the institute.
  •  Library will be closed for 15 days at the end of every year for annual stocktaking.
  • Annual stock taking report will be submitted to competent authority for right off and dispose of the book(s) and other material.
  •  Principal has authority to issue further instruction or permit relaxation in these rules.

Library timing

Library will be opened according the following schedule. o Monday to Saturday 08:00 am to 01:30 pm o Friday 08:00 am to 12:30 pm o Sunday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm o Evening Timing (for faculty) 07:00 pm to 08:00 pm (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

 

Borrowing Privileges / Conditions

All persons at Cadet College Choa Saiden Shah including (faculty/cadets/staff and administration) are eligible to borrow materials from the library. Borrowing privileges may differ depending on the membership category.

 

Various Sections of the Library

Audio-Visual Aids Section

The library is a repository of knowledge in whatever formats. Library houses a wide range of audio-visual material which includes pictures, video cassettes, films and CDs etc.

Periodical Section

The Periodical Section is a important section of the library. It has best collection of magazines and newspapers. The library receives 7 magazines in Urdu and English languages as well as 4 daily newspapers in English and Urdu

Children section

The Children Section contains on small story books on different subjects like education, history, islamiyat and humanities. This section also has a separate reading place.

Reference Section

The main section of the library is Reference Section. Study table has been placed for the readers. Reference Section contains a collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlas, Yearbooks and Islamic references books (Tfaseer & Hadith).

English Section

English Section is the main section of the library. This section contains a rich collection on the computer, Islam, social science, education, science, literature and history.

Urdu Section

Urdu Section is also main section of the library. This section contains a rich collection on the Islam, social science, education, Urdu literature, (poetry, novels, fictions and dramas) and history.

Textbooks Section

For the benefit of cadets and teachers copies of textbooks on all subjects for all classes are available in this section.

Fines

If a book returned after due date, a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged from cadets. An overdue notice will be sent to any borrower for overdue items. At the time when item becomes overdue, a notation is made in the record of the borrower. Faculty and staff are required to return books before over date. Library materials are the property of college. Compensation is required for any library material that is lost, mutilated or destroyed. A service charge of Rs. 100/- for each lost, destroyed item will be charged along with replacement cost if material is available in the market. Latest edition may be accepted with the approval of principal.
